At the very latest since the showing of the film Plastic Ocean (Volume 4), viewers of the International OCEAN FILM TOUR have known that plastic pollution is one of the greatest challenges facing us today.
Year after year about nine million tons of plastic trash enter the world's waters – with devastating consequences for our environment and health. Besides the highly visible accumulations of plastic in the oceans and on the beaches, there are also invisible plastic particles called "microplastic" that represent a grave danger. The microscopically tiny plastic has been found in Artic ice, the Mediterranean, municipal drinking water supplies and at the top of the food chain in human blood.

Meer Facts
Every year about 12 million tons of plastic waste find their way into the ocean. Approximately one quarter of that is microplastic. Researchers found an average of 12,000 particles in a single liter of ice at the North Pole. Even at the bottom of the Marianna Trench, the deepest point in the world’s oceans, plastic is drifting in the water.

THE SOLUTION FOR CLEAN OCEANS IS ON LAND.

Why? To prevent the constant flow of plastic trash into the ocean, we have to fight the causes on land. Getting the plastic problem under control demands that plastic be seen as a raw material and treated as such. How? When we keep plastic in a closed loop, it will not end up as waste in a landfill and ultimately in the ocean.
The solution to the problem – recycling – has existed for a long time. Plastic is a material like glass, metal or paper that has to be put into a closed loop. For where material cycles are closed, no waste is created.

The raw material source of the Yellow Bag

The Yellow Bag is a rich source of high-quality used plastic. For many years Frosch bottles have been made of 100% recyclates (used plastic). Some of the material comes from the Yellow Bag and some from deposit bottles.
The shower gel bottles for Frosch Senses now consist of 100% used plastic from the Yellow Bag – a world first.

Microplastic – the invisible danger

Microplastic has been found in Artic ice, in drinking water and even in human blood. But where does the microplastic come from? For one thing, microplastic is created when plastic waste breaks down in the ocean. For another, microplastic is used in peeling products for the cosmetics industry or as an opacificier in shower gels. Frosh shows that it works without. All Frosch formulas are free of microplastic.

Frosch Facts
More than 300 million Frosch bottles have been produced of 100% used plastic. Our shower gel bottles consist of 100% used plastic from the Yellow Bag or Yellow Bin and are themselves 100% recyclable. The formulas are free of microplastic.
